Discover Johnnie Walker

A timeless legacy of quality, progress and global influence

Johnnie Walker; a name with a global reputation. Recognised as the world’s number one Scotch whisky brand (IWSR 2021), today Johnnie Walker is enjoyed by people in over 180 countries around the world. Since the time of its founder, John Walker, the craftspeople behind its creation have pursued flavour and quality above all else, blending big-tasting whiskies from the four corners of Scotland for unmissable flavour and unmistakable character.

In 1820, John Walker opened a grocer's shop in Kilmarnock, Scotland, where he experimented with whisky blending techniques and laid the foundation for the Johnnie Walker family business. It was John’s son, Alexander, who introduced the iconic slanted label and square bottle to be distinctive and stand out on the shelf. In 1908, Alexander’s sons commissioned leading illustrator Tom Browne to sketch the Striding Man figure to represent their energetic brand. By 1920, Johnnie Walker was available in 120 countries and became a part of global culture, being referenced by songwriters and statesmen alike. Today, Johnnie Walker is the biggest whisky brand in the world; its slogan adopted and embraced everywhere as a rallying cry to ‘Keep Walking’ for progress, encouragement in adversity and an expression of optimism.
