Discover Lagavulin

Legends take time

Discover the definitive Islay malt—intensely flavoured, smoky, and rich. The windswept Isle of Islay imparts a profound strength of character into everything it nurtures, and it is here, cradled in a secluded bay, that the cherished Lagavulin whisky has been meticulously crafted for over two centuries.   Distilleries have dotted Lagavulin since the 18th century, but it was not until 1816 that farmer John Johnston established the first legal distillery. A year later, Archibald Campbell initiated a second operation. These pioneers were later unified under a Glasgow trader, and in 1887, Peter Mackie took the helm. Under Mackie’s visionary leadership, the distillery and the Lagavulin name ascended to be the quintessence of Islay malts

His numerous innovations and unyielding dedication to quality propelled the distillery to new heights. Peter Mackie’s pioneering spirit remains a beacon, guiding Lagavulin through the centuries and continuing to captivate whisky lovers with its deep, peaty flavours and storied past.
