Capturing the essence of a traditional bonfire by the Caol Ila pier, Caol Ila Fèis Ile 2024 13-Year-Old is inspired by the rich island history in the waters between Caol Ila and neighbouring Jura.
This exceptional Caol Ila expression stands out due to its unique finishing in ex-Ruby Port French Oak casks sourced from the Douro Valley in Portugal. This is enhanced by a harmonious interplay of dried fruit sweetness and smoky undertones that is slowly overpowered by the saltier smoky notes.
A rich and bold fusion of maritime and Mediterranean flavours, accompanied by a hint of chilli spice on the palate - this is the perfect dram for a Caol Ila bonfire.
Eva Cumming, Caol Ila Distillery Manager said, “I wanted to celebrate this year's Fèis Ìle with a truly exceptional bottling, especially since this marks my inaugural Fèis Ìle as Caol Ila's Distillery Manager. This expression beautifully captures Caol Ila's signature maritime smokiness, complemented by a twist with those sweeter tones. I’m looking forward to raising a glass with all of our fans!”

Medium to full.
Lengthy, with sweet smoke, a well-managed chilli pepper spiciness and a clean carbolic hint in the aftertaste. Sweetness and salt both come forward if a dash of water is added.
A mellow nose with a little initial prickle; dry overall. Fruity top notes that recall a dry sherry are soon supported by rich, smoky notes that suggest smoked ham with a sweet and savoury barbecue sauce. In time, a light maritime note also emerges; the anticipated Caol Ila bonfire on the beach is complete, the whole aroma appetising and well-rounded. Smokier with a drop of water, and now with a suggestion of white wine vinegar.
A rich and smooth texture introduces a taste that starts sweet, then becomes more mouth-watering and saltier as considerable smoke starts to build. Overall, it’s big and mouth-filling, deliciously rich and bold. Chilli pepper spice spreads broadly over the palate, and that bonfire is smoky. Water increases the creamy mouthfeel and reduces the chilli-pepper somewhat.
